Ange Postecoglou has problem to deal with at Tottenham after Radu Dragusin development

Paul Robinson has tipped Radu Dragusin to give Ange Postecoglou a selection headache after he started for Tottenham in their loss to Newcastle United on Sunday.

The 22-year-old was given a chance to impress due to Micky van de Ven being sidelined through a new injury, partnering Cristian Romero during the 2-1 defeat to the Magpies on 1 September.

Despite the loss, Robinson was delighted with Dragusin’s performance and has now backed the defender to push for a spot in the starting line-up on a regular basis.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Dragusin is a player I really like. I watched him a lot throughout Euro 2024. I like his leadership skills and not just his defensive attributes, but he’s also a threat in the opposition’s box, just like Micky van de Ven is.

“Postecoglou’s got a problem now because he’s got three quality centre-halves. Dragusin has shown what he can do, albeit in a defeat, but I think he played well. There’s going to be rotation.

“If van de Ven is not 100 per cent, he can stick with the partnership of Dragusin and Romero. Postecoglou doesn’t strike me as someone who makes decisions to keep people happy. He won’t play someone just because he feels he has to.”
