Managers of a youth rugby team in Doncaster have promised to rebuild its clubhouse “even stronger” following a horrific arson attack. After catching fire on Friday, the Moorends Marauders RLFC pavilion has been declared unsafe by its administrators. However, a club representative stated that the fire will not spell the group’s demise.

The Moonds Marauders RLFC Juniors are unhappy to report that at approximately 3 p.m. on Friday, a fire broke out inside our pavilion. As a result, the facility has been condemned, according to a representative.

After putting in countless hours over the past 18 months to revive rugby league in the area, all of us at Moorends Juniors are utterly shocked by the news. “At this point, we’re not sure what this means for our club, but every employee is absolutely dedicated to persevere and emerge from this even stronger. “More details will be provided when available.”

After a bench outside the building caught fire and spread to the building, emergency personnel were called to the pavilion. As South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue crews battled the fire, distraught locals looked on. According to a representative for the Thorne and Moorends Town Council, the fire is still being investigated, and anyone with information is encouraged to get in touch with the police. A spokeswoman stated: “We are sorry to confirm that Moorends Pavilion was the target of an alleged arson attack following the fire at the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Bench at the building’s entrance.

There has been significant damage, and inquiries are still going on. To safeguard the premises, we are collaborating closely with emergency services. “The damage is terrible; the facility is a beloved community center that houses Moorends Mauraders and Club Thorne, two organizations that work incredibly hard year-round to offer clubs and physical activities to the community. “We would like to express our gratitude to the emergency services, Doncaster Council, particularly Town Mayor Susan Durant, Deputy Mayor Ron Powell, and Councillor Mark Phillips for their prompt arrival and helpfulness on the scene.
